After the subway attack, we began to think about what kind of design can be convenient for everyone to carry around and provide effective self-defence feature for any emergency situation. So that everyone can be more secure and do not need to live in fear.
The designer quickly selected the backpack as a starting point for product improvement, because the backpack fits the designer's requirements for carry-on and basic defence. All they had to do was redesign the structure of the backpack to make it very strong, as a shield can generally provide effective protection.
During the development process, the designer interacted with the MRT commuter and found that the demand for sitting is high. Hence, the backpack can also be converted into a portable chair.
PackChair sample has been improved to the sixth generation now. The actual function of sitting and self-defence has been tested. In order to make the PackChair stronger, the designer specially designed a special aluminium alloy structure, combined with the glass fibre ABS sky floor, and combined into a very strong one. In order to accommodate this design, the structure makes the backpack more difficult. The maker has designed a total of about 40 different shapes (40 types of moulds are required).
PackChair currently only offers a single black version due to production costs. Designers expect to provide different colours when they reach 500% of the standard so that they can choose more colours. Dark blue, iron grey, brown (designed according to these 4 colours, and then launch two new versions of the backpack style).
